We've played an April Fool's Prank on you, dear readers. And it seems so did the makers of AVVENU, albeit a bit early. At last! A chance to listen your iTunes songs on non-iPod devices… or is it?
Well, yes and no. The service is simple. AVVENU streams music from your iTunes library to your Windows Mobile smartphone. And since it's a web-based application, you'll need to access the internet with your handheld or mobile to use it. Not exactly a cheap prospect if your data plan isn't unlimited.
There's also another catch. Apparently, AVVENU can't stream DRM-protected iTunes songs. Meaning songs you've bought from the online music store won't work with this service.
You'll be saving a lot of time and money if you simply pony up for a bigger memory card and just store your songs on the gadget itself. It's too bad, if AVVENU also worked with protected files, the convenience gained would've been worth it. If you're still interested in live in the US, you can apply for the limited beta.
