New phones from Research in Motion (RIM) will run the new BlackBerry OS 7. Reviews note that OS 7 is little more than a buffed up refresh of OS 6 which has significantly improved on a few important features including speed, security and new apps.
OS 7 does not address all of the long term competitive issues which have dragged down RIM's stock, but enterprises may be surprised to realize that the latest version of the Bold, Curve and Touch offer them a good alternative to other smartphones on the market. For one thing, the company is now offering a trade in program where those who trade in old, fully functional BlackBerry devices for a new OS 7 phone will get up to $100 off the price of the new phone.
